LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Salvation Army is thanking the community of Southwest Louisiana for their Red Kettle donations for the 2020 holiday season.

The organization received a total of $136,300 during this kettle season.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle bell ringer tradition started nearly 130 years ago and they say that, “although this season was a bit un-traditional, with kettles being primarily digital due to COVID-19, donors stepped up to help the Army online and at retail registers.”

A Salvation Army’s Lake Charles Corps Officer, Lt. Thomas Marion, said “thanks to your donations, families in need will receive food, utility assistance, and new clothes and toys.”
