LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A nice, but chilly start to the weekend as we saw clouds to start the day with sunshine breaking out into the afternoon. Temperatures will be on the rise as we head into the new week as high pressure remains in charge.

For the rest of this evening we are looking to see clear skies and temperatures cooling quickly as the sun sets. If you have any plans that involve being outdoors make sure to have a jacket with you, but if you are thinking about grilling out it will be a nice evening to do so. We fall quickly back into the middle 40′s through the early evening and start out even colder for our Sunday morning. Waking up on Sunday we could have some patchy frost especially north of I-10 as lows fall back into the lower 30′s for inland areas to middle 30′s for areas along and just south of I-10. Sunshine does return as we head into Sunday afternoon and will set up a great second half of the weekend as highs climb into the upper 50′s and lower 60′s. This is just the start of the warmer weather as we look to reach the upper 60′s by the middle of the week.

Starting out the new week sunshine will be our main weather story as high pressure remains firmly in charge as it slowly moves off to the east. Our winds will become a little more easterly with time and that will slowly begin to increase our moisture values. Good news any outdoor activities for Monday and Tuesday will be just fine as we don’t expect any rain and highs are back into the middle 60′s. Wednesday is when we begin to watch for changes as our next front takes shape just to our west with showers and even a few storms for late Wednesday into the early morning of Thursday.

Rain quickly clears as we head into Thursday afternoon and into our Friday as high pressure moves back into the region, but we do see a cool down as highs drop into the lower 60′s for Thursday and Friday and by next weekend we are only in the upper 50′s. We stay dry for our Saturday, but our next system moves in as we head late Saturday and into Sunday bringing us some showers back. For now enjoy the beautiful sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Have a wonderful Saturday afternoon and a great Sunday!
