LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Temperatures will drop quickly tonight with lows by Wednesday morning only a few degrees warmer than the past few days!

With clear skies and light winds, temperatures will drop rapidly tonight with lows by Wednesday morning ranging from the upper 30s north of I-10 to the mid 50s at the coast.

A warming trend will begin Wednesday as high pressure moves to our east and southerly winds return. The weather still looks nice through the end of the week, but temperatures will gradually increase each day. By the weekend afternoon highs may flirt with 80 degrees while lows will likely only reach the 60s!

The next cold front will approach our area late Sunday and likely move through on Monday. I am including a small 10% chance of rain Sunday and a 30% chance of scattered showers and storms Monday and Tuesday. This front will not bring any real change in temperatures. In fact, it will be followed by another cold front that will arrive Wednesday. This second front will bring a better chance of rain and thunderstorms; the chance of rain is 40%.

Thanksgiving Day looks calm with no major weather issues; temperatures will be near normal in the afternoon, but warmer than normal in the morning. So, you may need the AC on if you are baking the Turkey and or ham!
