FEMA substantial damage assessments begin

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - FEMA contractors will be in Lake Charles for the next two weeks to perform assessments on residential and non-residential buildings that received substantial damage.
Inspections will be taking place Monday - Saturday from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
FEMA contractors will be wearing a visible photo badge that identifies them and will also have a signed letter from the City of Lake Charles to provide to property owners. Contractors will not be entering structures and will be wearing masks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Inspections will take about 30 minutes for residential properties and up to 90 minutes for non-residential buildings.
