Dwight elected Calcasieu District Attorney

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - State Rep. Stephen Dwight has been elected as District Attorney of Calcasieu Parish.

Dwight will replace long-time D.A. John DeRosier, who decided not to seek re-election.

Dwight defeated Christian Chesson, who was running for D.A. for a second time.

Cameron Parish will also have a new district attorney.

Tom Barrett, formerly an assistant at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Office, unseated current D.A. Jennifer Jones.

Ron Richard was elected City Judge in Lake Charles, defeating Hope Wyatt Buford.

The race to fill the position of Lake Charles City Marshal will go to a runoff between Nathan Keller and Jerod Abshire. The winner will fill the position vacated by Vic Salvador.

The race for Sulphur City Marshal will go to a runoff between Glenn Berry and Brandon Dever.

Current Calcasieu court Judge Sharon Wilson was elected to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal, defeating fellow Calcasieu court Judge Ron Ware.

Judge Michael Canaday was re-elected to Calcasieu court, while Kendrick J. Guidry and Cynthia Clay Guillory were elected to first-term seats. Tony Fazzio was elected a magistrate judge.

In Sulphur, Judge Charlie Schrumpf retained his seat, fending off challengers Harry Fontenot and Carla Sigler.
