Two arrested, two sought for shooting in Lake Charles
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Four people are accused of being involved in a shooting at a graduation party at Hwy 90 in Lake Charles early Monday morning.
Mary M. Brignac, 23, was arrested and Devin L. Levier, 17, will be arrested after he is released from the hospital, CPSO spokeswoman Kayla Vincent said.
Levier is one of the individuals responsible for the shooting at 6780 Highway 90 E. in Lake Charles, where a graduation party was taking place at a business with approximately 200 unsupervised teenagers there, Vincent said.
When deputies arrived, Levier was already taken to the hospital by Brignac and several victims at the party were found with non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound. Two people suffered minor injuries during the panic that ensued after the shooting began, Vincent said.
Levier suffered from a gunshot wound to the abdomen but it is non-life threatening.
Detectives searched Brignac’s car at the hospital and found a semi-automatic pistol which was previously reported stolen.
Video surveillance at the business showed two males, who also had guns, with Levier. Anyone who can assist in identifying the two suspects is asked to call CPSO.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, Vincent said.
Brignac’s bond was set at $7,000 and Levier will be booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center when released from the hospital with his bond set at $70,000.
