SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - An Iowa man was killed in Sulphur after a two-vehicle crash on South Beglis Parkway north of Argin Street on Monday night.

Sulphur police said Jacob Banasiak of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was traveling southbound in the outside lane on a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle when he struck the side of a stopped wrecker vehicle.

The wrecker service was delivering a vehicle to a local business and was stopped blocking both southbound lanes, Capt. Jason Gully said.

Although the wrecker had flashing warning lights, Banasiak struck the side of the wrecker vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office, Gully said.

Standard toxicology tests were administered and results are pending. This is the first traffic fatality investigated by Sulphur police this year, Gully said.
