LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A 24-year-old man was killed in an overnight shooting near Brentwood Avenue, authorities said.
Kayla Vincent, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, said deputies patrolling the area around 1 a.m. Saturday heard gunshots. Upon further investigation, they found Brackus Guillory, of Lake Charles, with an apparent gunshot wound.
They were able to talk to Guillory before he was transported to a local hospital, according to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
“We were able to get a lot of information from him," Sheriff Mancuso said. "Unfortunately, he passed away because of the injuries.”
The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the shooting as a homicide.
Mancuso said the Sheriff’s Office has evidence believed to have fallen out of the suspect vehicle that he thinks will be “very helpful” in leading to an arrest.
"I think it’s just a matter of time now,” Mancuso said.
Carolina Guillory, the sister of the victim, just wants answers.
“I want justice,” Guillory said. “I want to know: ‘Why did they kill my brother?’ and ‘What reason?’ because he was a good person. He didn’t deserve to die like this at all.”
Mancuso urges anyone who was involved in the shooting or has any information to contact the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
