POLICE: 5-year-old killed in auto-pedestrian accident on L’Acadie Drive

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Police Department is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on L’Acadie Drive, according to Sgt. Larry Moss with Lake Charles Police.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of L’Acadie Drive around 7:02 p.m Tuesday night and learned that a 5-year-old child had been struck by a vehicle as it was entering a driveway, Moss said.

Officers and emergency personnel arrived on scene and found that the child had sustained fatal injuries due to the crash. The child died at the scene, according to Moss.

The Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office and the Lake Charles Police Traffic Division are continuing to investigate.

While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were taken from the driver of the vehicle. Officer Rodney Grantham is the lead investigator.
