Texas chase ends in wreck on I-10 WB between Toomey and Vinton

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - There has been a major two vehicle wreck on I-10 westbound between Toomey and Vinton involving a 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle, according to Louisiana State Police Troop D.

State Police Spokesman Trooper Derek Senegal says, the wreck was the result of a Texas Department of Public Safety pursuit in which a vehicle had come into Louisiana. The vehicle crossed the median into westbound traffic for unknown reasons and hit an 18 wheeler head on.

All lanes on I-10 westbound between Toomey and Vinton are currently closed.

The driver of the vehicle that was being pursued has been brought to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
