I-10 WB between Beglis, Ruth reopened after 18-wheeler found leaking hazardous materials

SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - I-10 westbound between Beglis Parkway and Ruth Street in Sulphur has been reopened after an 18-wheeler was found leaking a hazardous material on May 22, 2019, according to Sulphur Police.

Sulphur Police say the the roadway was closed from 5:38 p.m. to 2:24 a.m.

State Police Emergency Services arrived on scene last night to clean up the hazardous materials and were assisted by the Sulphur fire and Police Departments.

It is currently unknown how much of the material leaked or what caused the leak and Emergency Services are still in the process of transferring it to another tanker.

State Police spokesperson, Trooper Derek Senegal, says that the vehicle was removed from the road around 2:24 a.m. so it could be moved to a secure location for the transfer.
