DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - The DeRidder Police Department is asking drivers to avoid North Pine Street, as well as residential streets, due to flooding and trees down on the roadway throughout the city.

The City of DeRidder - City Hall Facebook page is reporting that a load of sand is being dumped near the library. Sandbags will be available through the dispatcher at the police department. Residents must bring their own shovel.

The National Weather Service is reporting quarter-size hail on Grabow Road and half-dollar-size hail near the Beauregard/Vernon parish line.

Beauregard Electric Co-Op is reporting more than 5,000 without power.
