SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Louisiana residents have roughly $900-million dollars in unclaimed cash and the state is trying to give back, according to the Louisiana State Treasurer’s Office.
Quite a bit of cash is owed to people in the Shreveport/Bossier City areas.
According to the state, Shreveport and Bossier City alone have more than $11 million in unclaimed property owed to Bossier Parish residents. More than $41.5 million dollars in property is unclaimed in Caddo Parish.
That money is just waiting to be reclaimed!
State Treasurer John Schroder was on KSLA News 12 This Morning. He said the state received the money through insurance claims, deposits on utilities and royalties. Schroder said one woman in northwest Louisiana recently received $2.3 million dollars.
“I always encourage seniors and family members and make sure that their parents and grandparents addresses for these type of products are up-to-date.," Schroder said.
