LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Lake Charles Police have arrested two men for three counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to Sgt. Jeff Keenum, with Lake Charles Police.
LCPD responded to a victim that had been shot on Reid Street around 4:29 a.m. on Feb. 2, says Keenum. After investigating, LCPD found that Trakenyvan Dejay Handy, 19, of Crowley, and Keimon Dandre Leroy Brown, 21, of Lake Charles, fired numerous times at the victim and bystanders.
The CPSO SWAT Team assisted the LCPD SWAT Team in arresting Handy and Brown around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, Keenum says. An assault rifle was recovered during the investigation.
Handy faces three counts of attempted second-degree murder. Judge Sharon Wilson set bond at $250,000. Brown faces three counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bond is set at $275,000.
Keenum says the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The bystanders were not injured.
