LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A school bus carrying 34 students was involved in a minor accident on northbound 171 over the Calcasieu River today, authorities said.
Sgt. James Anderson, with Louisiana State Police Troop D, said seven students were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, as was the driver of the other vehicle.
He said the school bus driver rear-ended the other vehicle. The accident happened shortly after noon.
Holly Holland, spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, said the kids aboard the bus were Sam Houston High School students, who also attend College Street T&I or Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning.
