Attempted second-degree murder suspect turns himself in to police

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Oakdale Police Department reports that a second-degree murder suspect has turned himself in this morning.

Police received a call at 10:57 p.m. from the Oakdale Community Hospital on January 26, 2019, informing them that they were tending to a gun shot victim in their emergency room that had been shot in the head.

Officers arrived at the hospital and found that the victim’s injuries were not life threatening. After further investigation officers determined that the suspect was a friend of the victim, JaMichael Jackson, 24, who entered the victim’s residence with a firearm and shot him in the head.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jackson for attempted second-degree murder.

At 4:32 a.m. on January 27, Jackson turned himself into the Oakdale Police Department without incident.

Oakdale Police state that this investigation is still ongoing.
