LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Through the rest of the day today expect cold temperatures and clear skies. We’ll continue to see a light breeze out of the north which will make temperatures feel colder through the day. As we head into the overnight hours winds will start to gradually die down as high pressure slides to our east. This will help temperatures feel a little warmer even though temperatures will still drop into the 30s overnight.

As we start MLK Day be sure to bundle up in the morning as temperatures will still be pretty chilly in the mid 30s. We will warm up through the day though with temperatures getting into the upper 50s by the afternoon as south winds begin to kick in. Clouds increase as we head into the afternoon hours ahead of our next cold front.

During the day on Tuesday I have lowered rain chances with a few chances for a couple of stray showers through the day, but the bulk of the rain expected to hold off until the early morning hours of Wednesday. Which is why I have also increased rain chances for Wednesday as that next cold front passes through. This doesn’t drop temperatures too much as we will see pretty chilly temperatures along with the rain on Wednesday.

Into Thursday we’ll clear up with mostly sunny skies and that sticks around through the day on Friday. Temperatures get into the mid 50s both days with overnight lows dipping into the 30s.

We’ll see another chance for rain as we head into next weekend, but this chance is much lower as models are not in agreeing about the beginning of next week.
