LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Office of State Fire Marshal has issued a statement saying that after an assessment of the scene of the Zagis USA fire in Lacassine and conducting witness interviews the fire at the textile mill has been classified as accidental though the investigation is still on-going.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by a loose piece of textile that was ignited by motor heat.

State Fire Marshal Deputies arrived on scene at the fire around 2:15 p.m. Friday at the textile mill located in the 21000 block of Louisiana Cotton Drive.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says that facility’s sprinkler system was activated during the fire which limited the extent of the damage while the fire alarm alerted employees to the danger, preventing any injuries.
