Shreveport Police say missing mom has history of violence
Officers tried to conduct a welfare check Monday, but they could not find the mother nor the children.

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Police are working around the clock to locate 36-year-old LaShunda Miles and her 3 children.

Sharriah Miles, 6, Tiara Miles, 7 and 10-year-old Rayven Miles were last seen on Monday, January 7 in Miles' care.

Officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Desoto around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday to check on the kids. Police say a family member called to report alleged violence happening against the kids as recently as Monday.

When police arrived, Miles and the children were not there.

Police say Miles has a documented history of violence against the kids.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections shows she just got off parole this month on a conviction of Cruelty of Juvenile.

“So it’s critical at this point that we can locate her and to establish that these children are fine. We are very concerned for their safety based on previous incidents that are on file with her against these children,” said S.P.D. Public Information Officer Cpl. Marcus Hines.

Detectives have issued a warrant for her arrest. LaShunda Miles, 36, is now wanted on one count of Cruelty to a Juvenile and two counts of Interference with Child Custody for her alleged role in the crime.

Police believe she has family in the Queensborough neighborhood and is searching that area as well as others.

Authorities found a vehicle registered to Miles, but the family was not with it.

Police are also working with federal authorities to locate the children.

“It is imperative we locate them. When you start to talk about children, and in this case we are talking about children ages 10, 7 and 6, 2 girls and 1 boy, so these are very young children, so they are very susceptible to anything that may take place, even at the hands of their mother,” said Cpl. Hines.

If you know any information that can help locate the mother or the children, contact Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
