LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Polls for the midterm elections open at 6 a.m. Tuesday and will remain open until 8 p.m.

Statewide, Louisiana is selecting a Secretary of State and is voting on six state amendments. But there are also several Congressional races and numerous local elections and issues on the ballot.

Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court, Lynn Jones said that if you’re in line by 8 p.m. you can still cast your vote.

KPLC will have have complete online coverage, including results as they come in, once the polls close. Join us for an online-only election day webcast at 8:30 p.m.

Early voting numbers show record numbers of people voted across the country.

Here in Calcasieu, 11,000 early ballots were cast.
