LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Jennings woman is dead after a Kenworth wastewater truck rolled onto the car she was driving, according to Louisiana State Police.

LSP responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-10 N. Frontage Road by La. 102 near Jennings on Oct. 23, according to Trooper Derek Sengal.

Investigation revealed a 2010 Kenworth wastewater truck driven by Michael Lee, 25, of Woodville, Texas, was traveling west on I-10 N. Frontage Road on a curve when the truck crossed the center line into the eastbound lane, Senegal said.

As Lee attempted to steer his vehicle back into the westbound lane of travel, he lost control causing the vehicle to roll onto an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Barbara Labouve, 58, according to Senegal.

Labouve sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office, Senegal said. A passenger in the car was seriously injured and flown to a Lafayette hospital for treatment.

Senegal said Lee sustained minor injuries and was cited for careless operation. All occupants were wearing seat belts.

Routine toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
