After receiving an undergraduate degree with a double major from Columbia University in New York City, an Ivy League college, Dr. Spiegel earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center, with world-renowned surgeons, where he began to perform laparoscopic surgery. He was involved with the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed in New York in 1989 and was among the first surgeons to master this procedure.
Dr. Felix Spiegel has been in practice for over 20 years. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgery. He opened the Texas Laparoscopy Center, TLC, in Southeast Texas and Houston in 2001. Dr. Felix Spiegel's practice name has evolved into SWS, Surgical Weight-loss Specialists, his new weight reduction and general surgery group.
