James Russell Guillet, 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in a local hospital. A devoted husband and father, he was born in Oakdale and resided in Westlake. He was a member of Glad Tidings, a board member of The United Way, Union President of IAM for six years, volunteer for Therapeutic Riding Center, Habitat for Humanity, and an avid deer hunter, LSU Fan, T-ball and PeeWee Football Coach who especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 41 years, Priscilla Marie Guillet; daughter, Shamie May of Lake Charles; sons, Bradford Guillet of Vancouver, Washington, Ashton Guillet of Lake Charles; sisters, Helen Veronie of Basile, Tena Bright of Lafayette, Faye Cutler and husband, Gordon, of Bossier City; grandchildren, Grace and Shelby Guillet, and Allie May. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Iler Guillet; four sisters and three brothers.
His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake. Rev. Doyle Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Greenoak Cemetery in Kinder under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Visitation will be Saturday 2-9 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. until the time of service.
