Lillian Rogers Doucet

79, died Friday, February 8, 2008 in a local hospital.   

Born in Eunice, Louisiana to Edmond and Armine Babineaux Rogers, Mrs. Doucet was raised in Sweetlake, where she was a 1946 graduate of Grand Lake High School.  In the late 1940's Mrs. Doucet married Ignace "Pat" Doucet and they moved to Lake Charles.  Mrs. Doucet worked as a waitress in the restaurant of the First Avenue Bowling Alley, and was a cashier at George Theriot's Supermarket on Broad Street for several years and at Weingarten's Supermarket for 16 years, retiring in the 1980's.   

Mrs. Doucet was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Red Hat Club, VFW Ladies' Auxiliary and was a volunteer and ombudsman for RSVP.  She enjoyed bowling and quilting.   

 She is survived by her daughters Gloria Newman and husband Jim, Jeanette Chapel and husband Donnie, all of Lake Charles, and Tammy Guillory and husband Eddie of Sulphur; grandchildren Marcus Newman, Forress Gibbons, Carrie Addison, Stacy Kirkland, Michael Chapel, Blaine Guillory and Maegan Guillory; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Cary, Bobby, Curly, Chester and Allen Rogers, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Virgie Busby of Lake Charles, and Hazel Boudreaux of Jennings.  

  She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ignace "Pat" Doucet.   

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 11, 2008, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Entombment will be at Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 9 pm with a scriptural rosary at 7:00 p.m. and visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 until 9:30 am.    Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net .
