Paul Nicholas Picheloup, Sr.

61, of Lake Charles died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008 in a local hospital after a very courageous battle with cancer. Paul was born July 8, 1946 in Rayne, Louisiana and has lived in Lake Charles for most of his life.

He was a graduate of Marion High School and attended McNeese State University.  After high school, he served in the Louisiana National Guard.  Paul was a most valuable partner of Picheloup Construction Company and served in the capacity of Contractor Supervisor. Paul is survived by his wife, Gail Rentrop Picheloup; son, Paul N. Picheloup, Jr.; daughter, Ann Melisse Picheloup; brother, Victor R. Picheloup, Jr. and wife Sally, all of Lake Charles; sister, Vicky Craig and husband John of Dallas, GA; twin sister, Paulette Bernard and husband Charles of Laurel, MS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Victor R. and Marie Boudreaux Picheloup, Sr. His funeral will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Derek Covert of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Reverend Dr. Fred Seay of First Presbyterian Church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. with a rosary to be held at 1:30 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Messrs. Donald Legnion, Joseph J. Miller, Calvin L. Miller, and Jimmy Phillips.  Acting pallbearers will be Messrs. Chad C. Bernard, Michael T. Chin, Derrick Guidry, Jay Honore, John D. McClain, and Brian C. Warburton. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at
