According to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff Department, law enforcement got a 911 call around 6:49 p.m. Sunday, January 20th. The caller, Jason Chapman said it appeared his pit bull dogs had attacked his wife and he needed an ambulance.
Deputies found his wife, Kelli Chapman, dead in the Chapman's bedroom. According to deputies, Jason Chapman said his two pit bull dogs, stay in the house with them and also sleep with them. When he arrived home from work, she appeared to have been mauled by the dogs. Deputies say they saw bite and puncture wounds on Kelli's body.
Chapman's dogs were put down and taken to Dr. Ted Hoerner's Veterinary Hospital in DeRidder for a necropsy.
Kelli Chapman was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office in Lake Charles for an autopsy.
No foul play is suspected but the investigation is still ongoing.
