Honoree Representative Elcie Joseph Guillory

Representative Elcie Joseph Guillory a native of St Landry Parish. He attended St Ann Catholic School. He is a graduate of Tyler and Caddo Barber Colleges and attended McNeese State University. He moved to Lake Charles in early 1057. Gulf States Utilities employed him for 37 years. He is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he is a member of the Finance Committee, and served on the I.H.M. School board, served on the 50th Anniversary steering committee. He is a member of the Holy Name Society and he was an Usher. He is a member of the Vernon W. Joseph Assembly # 22 Fourth Degree Knights. Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3204, The Monsignor Cramer Fourth Degree Knights, the NAACP, the Serra Club of Lake Charles and is the past president of the Serra Club of Lake Charles, He is also an member of the Kiwanis North.

Guillory was elected to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, where he served for seventeen years, as a member of the Police Jury he served as Vice President, President and on numerous committees. He was elected as President of the La. Police Jury Black Caucus, President of the IMCAL Board and the Community Action Board. In 1993 he was elected to the Louisiana State House of Representative. He served as Chairman of Labor and Industrial Relations Committee; he served as a member of the Environment Committee and presently a member of the Appropriations Committee. He is a member of the La.Legislative Black Caucus and the Acadiana Delegation. He is married to the former Ruby Bealeau, the father of three daughters, Cynthia, Juliet, and Sharon. The grandfather of Thaddeus, Rachel, and Danielle.

    An arrest has been made in the L'Acadie Drive home invasion, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Keenum.  On Aug. 11, a 68-year-old woman was attacked in a home invasion that was caught on surveillance video.
