From the Beauregard Parish Sheriff Department
On December 28, 2007 at approximately 4:31 PM the Beauregard Parish Sheriff Department received a 911 call advising that a 16 year old had gone to the complainant's residence advising that Chester Cormier had choked her and thrown her around in the kitchen of their residence. The victim then spoke with the Sheriff Department and advised that after her mother separated her and Cormier that she ran to the neighbor's house and asked them to call 911.
Upon arrival of deputies they observed visible injuries to the victim. Deputies learned that Cormier had come home in an intoxicated condition. According to the victim and witnesses Cormier battered the sixteen year old. When the Sheriff Department arrived Cormier had left the residence. Deputies contacted Cormier by phone and advised him to come back to his residence.
Upon Cormier's arrival at his residence deputies observed that he was intoxicated. Deputies conducted a field sobriety test on Cormier and determined that he was impaired. Deputies arrested Cormier for DWI and simple battery.
Cormier was booked into the Beauregard Parish Jail and later released on $1,750.00 bond.
