Sam Houston High teacher sex arrest

November 5, 2007
Reported by Pam Dixon

46 year old Willard Oliver was arrested Sunday and charged with seven counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Detective Michael Primeaux, the Sam Houston High algebra and Option III teacher admitted he was having a in appropriate sexual relationship with a former student he was tutoring at his home. Primeaux says, "Mr. Oliver was a teacher at the high school, Sam Houston High School. That's where they met. He offered to tutor her and as their relationship grew, they went to a sexual relationship."

The alleged sexual relationship came to light Sunday evening when someone saw the two arguing outside on Gilmore Road near Oliver's apartment-- an apartment located about a half mile from the school. It was an anonymous caller who led deputies to Oliver's apartment where they also discovered a small amount of marijuana. Primeaux says, "The sheriff's office was contacted that there was a young girl and Mr. Oliver in an argument. Someone saw him grab her by the arm and throw her in his truck and drive to his apartment."

Investigators say Oliver engaged in inappropriate sexual acts with the teen at least seven times between October 1st and November 4th. Oliver remains in the Calcasieu jail on a 105-thousand dollar bond. A school spokesperson says Oliver will be suspended from his teaching job and disciplinary action will be taken at the conclusion of an internal investigation.
