La Belle Journee Festival

Reported by KPLC Staff

On November 3-4, 2007, downtown Lafayette will travel back in time  for "LA BELLE JOURNEE Historic Festival." It's a festival evoking the sights, sounds, food, costumes, crafts, local color and atmosphere of 1786. The year General La Fayette took possession of his Marquisate of Langeac, France and received the keys to the city from officials there.

This year will be the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Marquis de La Fayette who believed so strongly in liberty that he volunteered to fight alongside George Washington in the Revolutionary War.

The public is invited to downtown Lafayette, Louisiana on November 3 and 4 for a great weekend of fun, complete with an old world market, parades, music, reenactments, craftspeople, and period costumes.
