Yes, patient choice is very important and most physicians will honor your request. In making this informed decision some considerations are:

Experience level of the hospice team - Odyssey HealthCare staff has over 250 years of hospice experience. We have staff that has been providing hospice in this community for over 20 years.

Competencv - We are the experts in pain and symptom management. Ask if staff is nationally certified in hospice and palliative care. My expectation is that all staff will prepare for and sit for the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse exam if one is available for them within 2 years of joining our team. We have many RNs, LPNs, and HHAs already certified or in the preparation process. Our team has been hand selected and I am personally very proud of each Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Social Worker, Spiritual Care Coordinator, Licensed Professional Counselor, RN, LPN, HHA, Volunteer and other staff member.

Family Satisfaction - We benchmark our care with over 700 other programs across the country and meet or exceed national standards.

Full time Crisis Care Team - Odyssey has a designated full time Crisis Care team to meet crisis needs.

Designated full time on call team - Odyssey has 4 FT positions for your after hours and weekend on call needs.

Bereavement and Volunteer programs are the best in the area.
