A Calcasieu parish inmate took local authorities on a manhunt today.
Calcasieu sheriff's officials were called to highway 171 and Gloria road in Moss Bluff around 1:30 after an inmate on work detail jumped out of the van and ran into the woods.
Deputies on ATV's and K-9 units were called in to assist while a 911 ringdown was instituted on a one mile radius of the intersection to inform residents and businesses of the escape.
They didn't have to look long, it took less than an hour for deputies to get their man. He's been identified as Stephen Joseph Hebert.
We're told Hebert was serving time for non-violent offenses such as bank fraud, identity theft, worthless checks and drug possession.
