Beloved KPLC Personality Dies at Age 82

A long-time radio and television personality of KPLC during the 1960's has died. Family members say Lee Janot Rew of Winter Park, Florida, died last Sunday at the age of 82.

Lee was a pioneer in the radio and TV industry here in Southwest Louisiana. Starting first at KLOU-AM, she went on to work for KPLC and had her own afternoon talk show here on channel 7.

While working at KPLC, Janot went to Vietnam as a goodwill ambassador. She broke her nose while diving under a table during a mortar attack. When KPLC went to color programming in the late 1960's, it was switched during her show.

Janot is survived by two sons. A celebration service will be held Saturday in Florida.
