Q: I'll be building sometime this year and will definitely need some expertise in flooring. Do you have anyone available to educated me on flooring, trim and window coverings?
A: Yes. Gulf Coast has a decorator on staff, Becky Ainsworth. She charges $35/hour locally.
Q: I am looking at the possibility of changing out the flooring in most of my home. I would like wood floors throughout and was wondering if the wood lament floors last as long as the really expensive ones?
A: Real Wood Floors vs. Laminate Floors: Basically the up keep is the same for both real wood and laminate flooring. No water can be used on either product. Real wood will scratch, dent and may be able to be refinished depending on the product. Laminate floors are scratch resistant - but that does not mean it will never scratch if something sharp is drug across it. Laminate is a more practical product for families with children. Neither product is recommended for bath areas.
Q: What is the best way to care for my laminate floors? Footprints seem to be an ongoing problem.
A: Laminate floors should be cleaned with a spray floor cleaner specifically made for your brand of floors. No water should ever be used. You can use a dry swifter for everyday.
