Entergy says its restored power to more than 7,000 customers this morning, after a power outage in South Lake Charles.

Several schools in the area were also affected including, A.A. Nelson, SJ Welsh, Barbe High, and Prien Lake Elementary.  According to the Calcasieu Parish School Board Office, power was restored to all affected schools around 9 a.m., and all schools are open.

The company blames a squirrel for all the problems at the Contraband Substation at the corner of Lake and Sale Streets.
