Governor Kathleen Blanco and Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon will meet with the 12 largest homeowners insurance companies in the state tomorrow.
Aids say they will discuss the insurers' level of commitment to the state and how to address the cost and availability of insurance.
The closed-door meeting is scheduled to run from about 10 a.m. to noon in the governor's press conference room on the fourth floor of the Capitol.
Blanco Deputy Chief of Staff Kim Hunter-Reed says that despite some lawmakers' calls for a "summit meeting'' on key insurance issues, tomorrow's gathering is not a summit but an information-gathering session.
Donelon says the meeting was called by Blanco, who invited him.
He said the meeting may be a prelude to a summit.
