LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting on Shattuck Street Wednesday that injured a 12-year-old boy, according to Corporal Larry Moss with the Lake Charles Police Department.

Moss says Christopher James Williams, 19, accidentally discharged a firearm, striking the minor. Williams then ran from the scene to his home in the 1600 block of Pine Street where he hid. A perimeter was established around the residence by patrol officers and SWAT operators and after a short time, Williams exited the home and was arrested without incident.

Moss says the victim is still in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting was originally reported to police as a drive-by shooting but police later said those reports were "not truthful."

Williams was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of aggravated second-degree battery and negligent injury. His bond was set at $37,000 by Judge Ron Ware.
