VINTON, LA (KPLC) - A Vinton police unit was rammed during a police chase early this morning, Vinton officials said.

The police officer was unharmed, according to Assistant Chief of Police Joey Dalfrey.

Vinton police received a report at 12:41 a.m. that a 2007 GMC Sierra stolen from the Prien Lake Mall on June 28 might be in the area. An officer located the vehicle traveling north on La. 3063 around 3:07 a.m. and a pursuit began.

The chase traveled to I-10 westbound and entered Orange, Texas, at speeds of 100 miles per hour.

After traveling down several streets, the driver of the truck ended up on a dead-end road in the area of North Street, where he turned around and rammed the police unit.

Police say the vehicle was occupied by a man and woman who appeared to be in their early to mid 20s. The 2007 GMC Sierra is tan with Louisiana license plate Y075864. It may have front-end damage.

Dalfrey asked anyone who spots the vehicle to contact local law enforcement.
