HOUSTON, TX (WAFB) -

Former LSU shortstop Alex Bregman is on quite a tear for the Houston Astros.

The Astros were down 6-5 in the ninth inning Wednesday when Bregman stepped up to the plate and delivered a two-run walk-off home run giving Houston a 7-6 victory.

Bregman had a monster series against the Blue Jays, going 9-for-14 from the plate with five doubles, three home runs, five runs, and six RBI.

The 2017 World Champs are 54-28 this year and have a 3.5 game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.

This season, Bregman is hitting .277 with 27 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, and 49 RBI.

Bregman played three seasons (2013, 2014, 2015) as the Tigers starting shortstop.

At LSU, he hit .337 with 56 doubles, 10 triples, 21 home runs, 148 RBI, 153 runs, and 66 stolen bases.

Houston selected Bregman with the second pick of the 2015 MLB Draft.

As of Tuesday, Bregman (718,814) was third in the All-Star voting, behind Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians (1,319,651) and Miguel Andujar of the New York Yankees (764,032).
