20 homes evacuated after city crew hits gas line

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

About 20 homes were evacuated on Friday morning after a natural gas leak prompted responses from emergency officials.

Officials with the Lubbock Fire Department said it responded at about 10:35 a.m. in response to a natural gas leak near the 2400 block of 24th St. Homes on the south side of 24th and 25th streets were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Crews from Atmos Energy were able to plug the leak, according to LFR, at around 2:15 p.m. After that residents were allowed back into their homes.

    Lake Charles Police Department has released their 2017 Annual Crime Report. The report says that criminal offenses were up 8.1 percent from 2016, with LCPD investigating 11,177 in 2017 and 10,341 in 2016. Crimes against persons increased by 1.1 percent (1,871 in 2016 to 1,892 in 2017) Crimes against property increased by 11.5 percent (4,826 in 2016 to 5,382 in 2017) Other criminal offenses increased by 7.1 percent (3,644 in 2016 to 3,903 in 2017) Overall crime clearance r...
