The Calcasieu Parish School Board approved it's controversial Pre-K plan Tuesday night.
Last year the future of Pre-K in Calcasieu Parish was up in the air. The school system decided to create a bridge year, and figure out if they wanted to continue funding Pre-K for non-eligible students or decide on a tuition.
Under the new plan, parents of children not eligible for free Pre-K will be charged a tuition of $550 a month per child and 400 slots will be open in the program for those children.
Superintendent Karl Bruchhaus said that those 400 slots would only happen if there is room and teachers available.
