LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A lot of kids have fun writing letters to Santa Claus around Christmastime. Those letters usually go unanswered, but not for students at one Lake Charles elementary school.
Some of Brentwood Elementary teacher Danica Nicole's Kindergarten and first-grade students wrote letters to Santa in early December and put them in a "magical mailbox," which they were told went directly to the North Pole.
"I have always believed in the magic of Christmas, and as a teacher shared that belief with my students," said Nicole in a Facebook post.
Nicole mailed her students' letters on Dec. 12, not expecting a response. But to her surprise, a week later a box filled with gifts from the students' wishlists was dropped off at her door, with a return address from Santa.
Nicole says she has no idea who her students' secret Santa is, but that she can't wait for the kids to see what he brought.
"So please, don't stop believing in the magic of Christmas," said Nicole in her Facebook post.
