SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) - A tornado tore through DeQuincy early Wednesday morning causing widespread damage all over town.

The National Weather Service classified it as an EF-1 Tornado with winds up to 100 miles per hour.

It caused damage across a three or four-mile path through DeQuincy shredding trees and downing power lines.

There have been no reports of injuries but many residents say they didn't hear the warning until it was too late.

Resident Joe Pentecost says, "It was dark and our electricity was out around here so all we had were flashlights to look at looked out the back door and went oh my goodness, there's nothing back here. I open the front door and it's all up here.
