HEWITT, TX (KXXV) -

A seventh-grade student at Midway Middle School is looking to spread some smiles at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.

Chandler Hooper was born with neurofibromatosis or NF. It's a condition that causes tumors to form in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

He's spent plenty of time in the hospital over the years, which is why he wants to give back. Chandler is now collecting LEGO sets for the children that he can bring in with him when he goes back for a checkup in December.

"Last year, when I sent them, like a month later they sent me a letter in the mail and I got to read it," said Chandler. "It was so really touching because it said 'thank you for sending these LEGOs, all the donations will be given out to the kids. The kids loved it and they even signed it!"

Chandler has already piled up around 40 sets. His goal is to collect more than 100.

If you would like to donate an unopened LEGO set, you can drop it off at Midway Middle School between now and Dec. 8.
