HANKAMER, TX (KXXV) -

Thirty-one dogs were rescued from Tall Tails Animal Rescue after the area flooded.

Tall Tails Animal Rescue in Hankamer, TX were looking for boats and crates to rescue their animals after severe flooding.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office posted an update on Tuesday saying that 31 dogs were rescued from the kennels.

Sheriff Hawthorne said that Kevin Miller, the owner of the animal rescue, had evacuated on the last trip the airboat had made. According to the sheriff, Miller had said that "no other animals needed to be rescued.

The rescue said in a Facebook post that the dam north of the area was opened and they got a foot of water overnight, but they will not leave unless the animals also go with them.

The shelter was looking for about 20 more large crates and temporary places for the animals to live. They added they also need help getting the dogs and cats out by boat.

Two groups volunteered their airboats for the rescue. Detectives that assisted in the rescue had said there were numerous fighting dogs and that Miller "appeared to care more about receiving PayPal donations than he did about the dogs or his imperiled neighbors."

Miller, who posted originally on Facebook, added this video of the rescue in progress:
