Free tax preparation with the United Way's VITA program

The deadline to file your 2016 taxes is drawing near, Tuesday April 18th is this year's due date. If you still haven't done yours, there is free help available so you can cross that chore off your list.

The United Way of Southwest Louisiana's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites offer free tax preparation for most people who earn less than $54,000 a year, are disabled, elderly, or those with limited English skills.

Every year millions of dollars in earned income credits go unclaimed. The VITA program utilizes IRS certified volunteers at several sites throughout Southwest Louisiana to prepare your taxes at no cost. Using IRS e-file and your bank's direct deposit, your refunds can be in your pocket in as little as 7-10 business days.
