Copy-Mountain lion tranquilized after climbing tree in LA neighborhood

LOS ANGELES (KABC/CNN) - An adult mountain lion found itself in a residential neighborhood Friday.

Police responded to a call of a wild animal roaming the area and found the 140-pound cat 30 feet up in a tree.

"I talked a neighbor, and he got his dogs in the house and then he came out front and let them handle their business," Mario Granado, who lives in the area, said.

Police evacuated some nearby homes and placed an area school on lockdown.

"We just didn't want to take any risks with it trying to get north across some busy roads," Adam Smith, of California Fish and Wildlife, said.

The mountain lion was tranquilized and safely removed from the neighborhood. No one was injured.
