LCPD releases name of man shot to death on Tulip Street Thursday

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Lake Charles Police Department has released the name of the man who was killed in a shooting in the 2000 block of Tulip Street Thursday.

Four people were shot in the incident, which was reported around 3:47 a.m. Click HERE for more. A video of the shooting showed numerous spent shells in the street.

Cody Lastrapes, 22, died at the scene, said Mark Kraus, Lake Charles Police Department spokesman.

Three other victims were transported to area hospitals. Two of the victims are in critical condition.

Kraus asked anyone with information to contact Det. Sgt. Franklin Fondel 337-491-1456, ext. 5311.

Cpl. Mark Fontenot was the initial officer and Fondel and Det. Matthew Brunet are the lead investigators.

LCPD received a call of a person shooting a firearm from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Prejean Drive in the afternoon, said LCPD Deputy Chief Mark Kraus. Police located the vehicle near Hwy 14. A 19-minute pursuit then ensued, and ended with a suspect arrested.
