MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Midland I.S.D. School Board President Rick Davis said the upcoming discussion regarding Crockett Elementary will "most likely" lead to its closure at the end of the school year.

We're told the school will most likely be closed because of poor academic standards.

The Texas Education Agency had Crockett Elementary on the "improvement required" list as a campus for six years in a row.

Davis said the students will be placed at either DeZavala or Milam Elementary.

We're told the interim superintendent had a meeting with parents and students earlier to tell them this might be a possibility.

The meeting will take place on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Bowie Elementary (805 Elk Ave.) and will begin at 5:30 p.m.
