LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles police are still looking for an armed robbery suspect who got away with an undisclosed amount of money in an early-morning robbery at the Walgreens at the corner of Ryan Street and Sale Road.

Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said the department got the call about 6:15 a.m. Thursday. Officers with the police's K-9 unit searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

"He was armed with a weapon and demanded money from the clerk. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. The suspect fled the area on foot or a bike," Kraus said.

According to a McNeese campus email alert, campus police were notified of the incident by Lake Charles police around 6:30 a.m.

No one was on campus on Thursday.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet-8-inches or 5-feet-9-inches tall, dressed in a black hoodie and wearing black gloves.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Det. Cpl. Kirk Farquhar at 491-1311.
